Monk Object is not your average Scandinavian death metal sound. This trio is notorious for melding dark neoclassical riffs with industrial grindcore to create sounds indistinguishable from a freight train colliding with a 777 dreamliner (in a good way). When asked to describe their unique sound, front man Magnus Van Gunterson simply spat out a tooth. Monk Object defies convention. No percussion and no bass, just 3 untuned guitars playing out of time. Monk Object has been a regular fixture in all the high-profile metal blogs since releasing its newest single “Single”. In 2015, Monk Object’s eponymous debut album went double platinum in Iceland. Since then the band has been experimenting with a variety of shred, hammer and gnar with hopes of announcing a Gotham World Tour in the spring of 2017.
